I think it's safe to assume we all have a favorite spot in church. The place where we like to sit week after week, and are sad when it is taken. The reason I'm bringing this up is because today there was an incident with a lady at church. This lady which I shall refer to as "Lucy" has been going to our church for about 7 years, and yes she always sits at the same spot. Despite being an active member in our church Lucy is known for one thing; Arguing. Lucy always argues about something, and whenever you look at her, she is usually frowning, as if holding back an argument. But that is not the point. The point is that today at church I saw Lucy enraged like never before. I mean she was furious, and very upset. We decided to listen to her, and heard her say the samething over and over,
"Who moved my Chair?! Everyone knows that is MY spot!! That is just disrespectful! Everyone knows I sit there! They obviously did it because they want to make me mad! I haven't done anything to offend anybody! So why would they take my spot?! I come hear today, calm & relaxed, ready to participate in the lord's supper, and then I have to be put through this?! They know that is my spot!!"

I really did not know what to say to tell Lucy. I mean, there are no assigned seats in church. Sure we all like our spots, but it's first come first serve. We explained to Lucy that a visitor today was a rather large lady who suffers from back problems, who would have a very hard time sitting on a regular folding chair. Lucy kept saying the same thing, "They took MY spot! You know that is MY Spot!" Honestly, the Chair doesn't even belong to her, it came from the pastor's office where we have 5 others. We offered to get her another one, but Lucy just kept saying that she wanted HER chair. Lucy then went on to say, "See that's the devil! The devil knows it bothers me when they took my spot, so he used YOU GUYS to move my spot." Of course our reply was that the devil can only make you mad if you let him. It's just a chair after all.

Well I left her after that but as I was leaving I heard her say that she plans to buy her own chair, keep it in the church, and if she sees anybody sitting in it she will just force them of HER PROPERTY.

So it seems we may have a problem with Lucy in the future. Please pray for this woman, so that God let's her see how petty this whole thing is. More importantly, that this Chair issue won't escalate. I mean if a visitor where to sit on her spot, and she forced them off, this could reflect poorly on the church. So please pray for her.

hahahahahahahahahaha Lucy sounds like a pain.......I will pray for her and leave her buy her own chair, and remind her (If you find her in one of her good moods) that God said that we must share, and if that doesn't work ask her what would Jesus do.
LMAO.....actually his church is not that strange, or maybe my church is strange too,cuz that happened ere once b4...the only difference was that the chair actually belonged to my "Lucy"....lol........yea she brought two and when she saw that some 1 was sitting on both of em she got mad.

Wow. Its been over 2 years since the Lucy incident.  Well the Good news, she hasn't caused any trouble.  Though there were a few other incidents involving her spot.  Anyways 2 weeks ago we were doing communion again, "Lucy" is now a Deaconess, so we were both in line. She was in front of me going over the order in which we would go in, and where we would sit.  She mentioned that she would be sitting at the corner, the spot that she likes.  Her saying that reminded me of the above incident. A few minutes later, due to someone not being able to make it, they had to change the order, and she would have to sit elsewhere. I saw in her face a look of disapproval, then she merely shrugged it off and said, "If thats what you need me to do."  So I'm glad that "Lucy" has gotten over this issue.  Even if it is just a little.  Definitely steps in the right direction.
